Changes at Portcullis GP Surgery in Ludlow from September 2017
“Changes are taking place at Portcullis GP Surgery in Ludlow from September 2017. There will be more Nurse and Doctor appointments available. These extra appointments are being created at times to accommodate our working patients.
Extra Capacity for Nurse Appointments
Portcullis Surgery is pleased to announce that, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Joy Godding will be joining Sisters Amanda Robinson, Hazel Lambourne and Stephanie Brereton, our existing Nursing Team. ANP Joy worked in our practice from 2005 until last year and was well liked by both staff and patients. For the past year, she has been working in a more advanced role in a large, busy practice in Hereford and we are delighted to welcome her back in the practice in her new role.
ANP Joy will be working 4 days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Joy is now qualified to see patients with urgent problems such as abdominal pain, chesty coughs, shortness of breath etc. as well as the usual minor illnesses, sore throats, urine infections etc. She is also a qualified diabetic specialist nurse and has an interest in chronic disease.
ANP Joy will be carrying out some late surgery sessions on Monday evenings (6.30 – 8 pm), early surgeries on Friday mornings (7.30 – 8 am), as well as one Saturday morning per month.
Our Receptionists will be happy to help you book your appointment with one of our nurses or alternatively you may wish to book your appointment directly online if you have registered for Patient Online Access.
Need a Blood Test, Blood Pressure Check or a Health Check?
Did you know that our Health Care Assistant, Linda McMahon is also available for Monday evening and early Friday morning appointments? Ask a Receptionist to book your appointment.
Extra Capacity for Appointments with a Doctor
In addition to the usual weekday GP appointments, which continue to be booked through our Portcullis GP Surgery Receptionists or online; from September 2017 the Practice will be opening and offering more GP appointments during Monday evenings (6.30 – 8 pm) and one Saturday morning (9 am – 1 pm) per month. This change has been made to try and offer better services to patients who work full time.
These extra routine appointments are being made available as a pilot under the Prime Minister’s GP Access Scheme and as such are only available by telephoning 0333 222 6649. Please understand that this is not an emergency service, the appointments cannot be booked directly through Portcullis GP Surgery and there will be no drop-in availability on the day. Any emergency will be directed to SHROPDOC.
Dates are already available for September to December.”
